Braiding Waters: Navigating Stories of the Land for our Common Future

Like the Bow River's flowing waters, stories can be shaped, shared, and cherished over time. In our design for RiverWalk West, we honor the river’s history, its heritage, and the goal of creating an inclusive urban space. Braiding Waters celebrates the river's spirit and its vital role in Calgary’s cultures. We create a connection between the past, present, and future, where respect for the environment, cultural celebration, and community spirit come together. This design encourages us to recognize, value, and protect our cherished spaces. Our vision rebuilds the relationship between nature and Calgary’s residents, creating a balanced exchange with nature. As Director, Blair led and managed the concept design with Principal Barbara Wilks, collaborating closely with indigenous and ecology consultant experts, leading the estimation of construction estimates, copywriting, design narrative, preparation of submission materials to the City of Calgary.
