Gowanus Rising

Gowanus Canal, Brooklyn, NY

A creative partnership with Jill Anholt Studio. Innitially shortlisted from approximately 200 international submissions, our collaboration was selected for phase 2, a site-specific design proposal for the Nevins Landing waterfront promenade. A final winner remains unannounced of approximately 5 individual submissions per site.

“Gowanus Rising” is conceived as an interactive public artwork for the Nevins Landing Promenade and a bold testament to the evolving spirit of the Gowanus Canal. The work is an exploration of transformation, resilience, and the symbiotic relationship between nature and urbanity. “Gowanus Rising” encourages viewers to reflect on the canal’s layered history while envisioning a future of renewal and hope.
